L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has issued a purchase order to Wojskowe Zaklady Elektroniczne S.A. (WZE), a Polish government defence company, to produce Attitude Control Motors (ACMs) as a certified supplier for the U.S. Army’s Patriot missile (PAC-3). L3Harris, in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, has been working closely with WZE to stand up in-country missile component production for Poland’s Wisla air defence system.

“L3Harris is committed to increasing capacity for critical munitions that protect our country and our allies,” said Scott Alexander, President, Missile Propulsion, Missile Solutions, L3Harris. “This important milestone with WZE demonstrates key progress in diversifying our missile propulsion supply base while ensuring our global allies are equipped with critical defence technology.”

The purchase order follows installation of specialised equipment at a new WZE production facility in Zielonka, Poland, and extensive U.S.-based training at L3Harris’ solid rocket motor production campus in Camden, Arkansas. WZE has also completed a Production Readiness Review, Manufacturing Readiness Review and Production Line Verification, paving the way for WZE to begin low-rate initial production in the near future.

The PAC-3 missile is a mobile, high-velocity interceptor with long-range, medium to high-altitude, all-weather capabilities that uses hit-to-kill technology to intercept a variety of incoming threats, such as tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft. Each PAC-3 interceptor contains 180 ACMs. The egg-sized motors fire to refine the missile’s course and ensure body-to-body impact.
