HAVELSAN Advances Naval Electronics with Nationalized Systems

As part of the MİLGEM project, HAVELSAN has strengthened its command and control capabilities by nationalizing critical commercial-type electronic boards, including the Single Board Computer (SBC), Time Card, various Interface and Power Boards, and the Compact PCI Backplane, which were previously sourced from abroad and used in the Ship Data Distribution System (GVDS).

For the first time, the MİLGEM-6 Ship Data Distribution System (GVDS) has been produced using electronic boards entirely developed by HAVELSAN engineers. It successfully passed the Factory Acceptance Test on January 30, 2025, with a 100% success rate and an "A" grade.

This milestone marks the 56th Factory Acceptance Test of HAVELSAN’s Platform Data Distribution Family, which has already been integrated into 55 platforms to date.

The full in-house development of these electronic boards has also ensured the seamless operation of Real-Time VxWorks operating system drivers at peak performance.

Thus, HAVELSAN’s indigenous electronic boards have been integrated into the GVDS hardware and software solution, which serves as the technological backbone of MİLGEM vessels.

The same high-performance electronic hardware and software infrastructure will also be utilized in various other strategic projects, including the Peace Eagle (Barış Kartalı) Project.

Regarding the success of localizing electronic boards used in the Ship Data Distribution Systems of MİLGEM vessels, HAVELSAN General Manager Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar stated:

Future Expansion

HAVELSAN’s Platform Data Distribution Systems product family, which currently includes the Ship Data Distribution System and the Submarine Information Distribution System, will continue to expand. Soon, it will welcome the Peace Eagle (BK) Mission Computing Systems (MCS) hardware under the Peace Eagle Project.
